#FitFam

 Hello Everyone :)

So recently I have noticed a article circulating around Facebook titled #FitFam: 11 Reasons why the fitness culture on social media needs to be stopped. This immediately caught my attention, as I read I began to feel a little enraged and offended. I am totally guilty for posting my runs, my PR's, my training on social media. actually I do it on a daily! And I also love seeing other peoples progress,  train or work towards a better them :) Its inspiring, motivating and gives me ideas on how I can better my training.
It refers to the active culture on social media as a "cult" well this is the most inspiring, motivating, supportive cult I have ever seen :) My running "cult" are some of my best friends, they are some of the only people that actually "get" me. Because they share my passion <3
They say this "cult" makes completely average people think they are famous. I am sorry but if u run a marathon, make it to Boston you are not average and you are famous in my eyes :)

I feel as if the only people that agree to this article are non active people.
We live in a society full of over weight none active people. promoting a healthy active lifestyle should be encouraged in what is one of the fattest country's in the world!

I love My Neon :)

I want know what you think about this article ?
Offensive to you ?

TGIF! Hope you all have a great running weekend!

  1. I agree with you 100%. People can make up all kinds of excuses for not being active, but it all comes down to them getting off their butt and doing something. Those who do are super positive people and should celebrate every success they have.

  2. I just went and searched this article so I could see what it was all about! I definitely don't agree with a lot of what this article said. I think posting pictures of healthy foods and talking about our latest running accomplishments is a GOOD thing and perhaps motivates other people to do the same! I understand that when it goes too far, and people look down on others for not lifting or not being able to run a marathon, it has to be stopped, but in most cases, it is just happy and healthy people sharing a moment of pride or sharing their progress.

Thanks for sharing that article - I read some of the comments on it too and it looks like lots of people agree with us :)

  3. A cult?!?!? Health and fitness involve a lifestyle choice. There's obviously a line between being proud of an accomplishment and sharing your successes with friends versus bragging/putting others down for not identifying with your beliefs. This type of thing was one of the reasons I created my blog....so as not to annoy any non-runners! LOL. Thanks for the article Sam!!! :)

  4. I found this offensive because it is a bunch of BS. I understand she's a comedian and there was satire in what she was saying, but complaining about all the things that our #fitfam does is ridiculous. WE do it to MOTIVATE each other. This country (U.S.) has an epidemic of obesity, and anything that gets people to change there poor health habits is a bonus in my eyes.
